Leonardo Cardenas Appointed General Director of TÜV SÜD América de México

Monterrey, Mexico. TÜV SÜD América de México, a TÜV SÜD global subsidiary, which started in 1994 in Monterrey, Mexico, announced the appointment of Leonardo J. Cardenas as General Director, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.


"We are excited to have Mr. Cardenas join our America's team. His experience and knowledge of the Mexican and Latin American markets will help expand our service offerings to our customers and ensure TÜV SÜD's continued focus on growth into emerging markets," stated Craig Casillas, Director Management Services, TÜV SÜD America. "Leonardo will oversee the daily operations for Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and TÜV SÜD América de México's International Quality Management Systems University (IQUM)."


Prior to his appointment within the TÜV SÜD organization, Mr. Cardenas held numerous management and supervisory roles, including the positions of operation supervisor for what is now known as Praxair, environmental coordinator for the Monterrey TEC system, Environmental Management Director for Monterrey TEC, chair of the graduate program on Corporate Social Responsibility for Universidad Regiomontana, and others. Furthermore, Mr. Cardenas actively participated in the development of several ISO standards, among them ISO 14001 (1996 and 2004), ISO 14004, ISO 26000, and others from 1995-2005, during which time he founded and chaired the first group to produce official ISO standards in Spanish and sat on several committees.  He continues to actively participate in Corporate Social Responsibility Projects and Standards. 


Mr. Cardenas has significant international training and teaching experience in Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) subjects. He is an active public speaker who has authored numerous internationally recognized books, articles, manuals, and training materials. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Masters of Science in Systems and Quality from Monterrey TEC, and a Bachelor in Psychology from Universidad Regiomontana.
