The safe operation of trains within the rail network is critical to passengers and rail operatives. There are many elements that go into making sure that hazards and risks associated with rail vehicles are minimized.



In order to reach the overriding goal of interoperability over the European Rail Network, Rolling Stock is fitted with protection systems standardizing the train control and command systems.

TÜV SÜD Rail understands the many and conflicting requirements associated with successful integration of complex equipments within trains. We supply a combination of Testing, Consultancy and Notified Body Services to enable manufacturers of new and refurbished trains to demonstrate compliance with legal and contractual requirements.

TÜV SÜD Rail can manage the approval process for all relevant international cross acceptance requirements and has unmatched experience in the assessment of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and Braking systems as well as Fire Prevention and Fighting Techniques.

We understand the many and conflicting requirements associated with successful integration of complex equipments within High Speed and Conventional Rolling Stock as well as Metro and Light Rail applications. We have experience of working on projects throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

Rail Vehicle Testing

Our rail vehicle testing facility can provide you with valuable support during the approval process.

In Görlitz, Germany, we operate a testing establishment on a site approximately 30,000 square meters in area, with about 3 kilometers of rail track, on which speeds of up to approximately 60 km/h can be reached. Other track tests, for instance technical running and braking tests, are undertaken from our location in Delitzsch, Germany.

In addition to vehicle approval tests, we can conduct tests on pointwork, functional tests on vehicles and many other testing procedures.
