AS9000 is a quality management system standard specific to the aviation, space and defense industries. The standard was developed using ISO9000 with additional requirements applicable for aerospace and defense users. The objective was to have acceptable standards for aerospace and defense industry stakeholders worldwide. Currently, the Boeing Company requires all Boeing suppliers to be BQMS(Boeing’s quality management system) approved or have a waiver. As 9000 is a significant part of Boeing’s BQMS requirements. With the present demand in aerospace industry, AS9000 can be an effective tool for business success as more and more OEM’s are making it mandatory requirement for their suppliers.
